Montreal, Canada - Tuesday 2 January, 2007 - Round 5 of the 2006-07 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, hosted at the Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia, will be broadcast on SPEED on Wednesday 3rd January at 4pm EST as coverage of the winter-based, nation versus nation series continues throughout North America.
A1 Team Canada left Indonesia empty-handed in last month's fifth round battle at Sentul. An eighth place finish in the Sprint race was followed by retirement for Vancouver's Sean McIntosh in the Feature event, the 21-year-old defending race champion forced out thanks to a wayward left rear tire.
With the team failing to score points for the first time since the opening round in October, Canada dropped two spots down to eighth in the Nations Standings, on 22 points, while Germany extended its lead to 12 points over Great Britain, 48-36.
A1 Team New Zealand swept the top step of the podium in both Indonesian races with Jonny Reid steering the team to its first ever A1GP victories. The team can be sure of a rapturous welcome in Round 6 as New Zealand hosts its first A1GP race weekend at the all-new 3.5km Taupo Circuit later this month, 19th-21st January, as the 2006-07 A1GP season reaches the halfway point.
