FW: Merrittville Speedway Press Release

THOROLD, ON - For the second time in the young season – Merrittville Speedway Officials were forced to cancel its Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Program – delaying the start of the 2010 BRP Can Am Late Model Series Tour.

“With the Late Model teams set to kick off their tour,” reveals (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, adding, “and (sponsor) Seaway Mall tenants set for an action-packed night – it was unfortunate to delay the excitement … off and on rain during the day and the threat of severe weather left us no other choice.”

“Race fans can still get their racing fix over the Holiday Weekend,” furthered Bicknell, “our Victoria Day Celebration concludes with quite an event Monday Night … the 100 lap 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series Opener … another Hoosier Stock Duel on the Dirt Home Track Event and the Grantham Lions Ironman Enduro Series Qualifier accelerated by Niagara College!”

Race fans and race teams alike are reminded that Saturday May 29th is the 5th Annual Rankin Cancer Run set to start at the Grantham Lions Park. May 22nd was set to be Rankin Cancer Run Night as well and with the event less than 1 week away – you can still make a donation and even participate in the event that has all funds raised staying right in Niagara!

“In the very near future we are hoping to announce a new date for the BRP Can Am Late Models,” anticipates Bicknell, “it’s a fan favorite event for sure … details will be released as soon as we know!”

The Holiday Spectacular Monday May 24th presented by Zavitz Financial Strategies and ZFS Employee Benefit Solutions kicks off when the Gates Open at 4 PM. Showtime is at 7:00.

“Some 55 drivers kicked off the 358 Series with us last season,” remembers Bicknell, “every indication is that a similar field will join us tomorrow evening … a great field of Hoosier Stocks and with the Enduro … who knows what that will bring – either way it’s a must see event!”
