Mirabel (Québec), September 12, 2010.– Audette Racing team driver Mathieu Audette topped off his Canadian Touring Car Championship season by finishing in third position at both races held on September 11th and 12th at the ICAR complex in Mirabel. This double podium secured him a third place in the overall ranking of the 2010 championship.
Qualifying on the first line for Saturday’s race, Mathieu Audette fought to take the lead from eventual race and championship winner Nick Wittmer during the first half of the race. Unfortunately, with only a few laps remaining, handling problems forced Mathieu Audette to give up his second place position. Our Dimensions Doors Acura RSX was working very well but the recently imposed mandatory weight regulations have seriously affected us. On Mirabel’s concrete surface, dragging around 120lbs more than my main rivals was clearly making us lose time in the turns explains Mathieu.
The following day, starting in third place, Mathieu Audette crossed the finish line in the same position, finishing his weekend with two consecutive podiums. I had to work hard because Benjamin Distaulo was putting pressure on me from the first lap until the last lap. I’m happy to have maintained my third place position, which is also where we finish in the championship confessed the Québec driver. Out of the fourteen rounds in the 2010 Canadian Touring Car Championship season, Mathieu Audette earned one victory and ten “Top 4” finishes. Unfortunately, mechanical problems at the Grand Prix de Toronto in July cost him the possibility fighting for the title all the way to the end of the season. Despite everything, we are very happy with our season, we have proven that, despite new regulations that are of no advantage to our car, we were able to battle with the leaders on each track. The Audette Racing guys did an incredible job and I thank them all, as well as our sponsors, my family, and of course my girlfriend ! concluded Mathieu.
This season, the Audette Racing Team entered Mathieu Audette in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and his brother Rémy Audette in a partial open wheel program consisting of Formula Tour 1600 and the American Formula 2000 series. Both brothers claimed victories as well as other podiums in their respective series.
Even though the season is officially over for Audette Racing, the team will be on the track one last time this year to enjoy themselves at the Circuit Mont Tremblant’s Fall Classic on September 25th and 26th. Mathieu Audette will drive his Acura RSX Type-S in the sedan car race while Rémy will compete in Formule Libre category with his Formula 2000 open wheel.
This season, the team benefited from the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
