Wittmer Victorious in Feature Race at Le circuit iCar in Mirabel, Quebec and clinches the 2010 Super Touring Championship

(Mirabel, Quebec – September 12, 2010) – As the green flag dropped on the 23 car field, Montreal native, Nick Wittmer took charge of Sunday’s Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Toyo Tires feature race early at the Gran Prix of Mirabel.

Posting a win in the Saturday heat race, Wittmer wasted little time ‘positioning’ his Lombardi Honda Civic Si Sedan into an early lead. At the drop of the green flag, Wittmer took control of the race and set a grueling pace for the second place Aldo/Northwest driver Greg Pootmans and Mathieu Audette of Audette Racing.

For the entire 25 laps race Wittmer held off the field and was able to take home the top spot on the podium. Pootman’s pulled out everything he had in an attempt to catch and pass Wittmer, while watching the rear view mirror as Audette was right behind him the entire time.
The large crowd in attendance was treated to a fierce battle in the extremely competitive Touring class, as Roxton Pond native, Michel Sallenbach driving for Octane Motorsports took over first place on the 4th lap and never looked back. Durabond/Compass360 Racing’s Anthony Rapone was able to get by his team mate Karl Thomson who would round out the third step on the podium.

The Fastest Lap Powered by NOS Energy Drink Award went to Super Touring’s Lombardi Honda’s Nick Wittmer who posted a 1:30.227 in his Honda Civic SI sedan. First time this year we had a tie in Touring Class by Michel Sallenbach & Anthony Rapone posted the identical fastest lap with a 1:34.352.

The ANZE Suspension Hard Luck Award went to Touring car driver Marc-Andre Seguin who had his engine go soft on lap-16 retiring him from the race.

The teams pack up now for along off season where they will teardown, rebuild their cars for next years season which gets underway in May 2011.
