Brockville Ontario Speedway: Buckle up ... it's race time at the Beast of the East

BROCKVILLE, ON It's time to buckle up race fans, race week has finally arrived at Brockville Ontario Speedway.  The first event of the 2011 season at the Beast of the East is set for Saturday night, May 14th.  Brockville's BOB-FM presents the Ken Seymour Memorial Season Opener at the fast high banked quarter mile clay oval.

In addition, to the regular program of DIRT 358 Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Street Stocks and Rookies, there will be a special crate Late Model Invitational on opening night.  These type of cars will make a few appearances during 2011 at the BOS, with many of the drivers coming from the Brighton area of Eastern Ontario as well as Northern New York.

While it's the first race at Brockville, many of the Saturday night regulars have already been out in competition to gear up for their hometown points chase.  Defending 358 Modified champ Pat O Brien has runs at Brewerton and Fulton Speedways under his belt already.  Brother Danny, who will be gunning for a track title himself in 2011, recorded a 358 Modified win at Merrittville Speedway near St. Catherines to get things off on the right foot.

Defending Sportsman champ Dylan Evoy has also visited victory lane already season with a victory on Friday night at Can Am Motorsports Park, near Watertown.  One of the largest collection of drivers and crews yet, descended on the Brockville oval on Saturday afternoon, May 2nd for three hours of practice to prepare for the opener.  It is clear, while a couple of drivers are moving up to Modifieds, there will still be plenty of DIRT Sportsman competitors week in and week out at the Beast of the East.  Car counts also look promising in the Street Stock and Rookie classes.

Gates will open at 5pm Saturday night, with the first green flag of the 2011 campaign set to fly at 7pm.  Brockville Ontario Speedway is located just north of Brockville on Highway 29.
