Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame welcomes A1 Team Canada gift

MONTREAL, QC – To help celebrate the relocation and re-opening of the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF), now situated in Halton Hills, On, A1 Team Canada’s Sean McIntosh has donated the race boots and gloves he wore in Indonesia as he claimed Canada’s maiden victory in the A1 Grand Prix of Nations back in February.

Having moved to its new home last month, based at Legendary Motor Car in Halton Hills, the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame continues to celebrate Canada’s proud racing heritage while recognizing the achievements of outstanding Canadian competitors in both domestic and international motorsport competition.

While donating his history-making A1GP apparel to the CMHF, along with a signed print of his debut start for A1 Team Canada at Brands Hatch last September, McIntosh commented: “I was delighted to be able to represent Canada in A1GP and to cap my last race of the season for the team with a victory, our first, was just fantastic. We made a little bit of history for Canadian motorsport that day and I’m thrilled our accomplishments will be remembered through the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame.”

Thom Dickinson, President of the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame said: “We’re more than pleased, not just at Sean’s successes but also his consideration in donating these items to the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame. We’re delighted to receive them and to add them to our expanding collection highlighting Canadian excellence in motorsport.”

McIntosh’s drive for A1 Team Canada in Round 8’s Feature race was one of the undoubted highlights of a stunning first year of competition in ‘The World Cup of Motorsport’. Having suffered the disappointment of crashing out on the first lap of the Sprint race, McIntosh responded with a sublime drive charging from last-to-first in the Feature race, despite an unwelcome drive-through penalty, to power A1 Team Canada to its first ever A1GP victory.

The Vancouver-born 20-year-old then led a rousing rendition of ‘Oh Canada’ from the top step of the podium while draped proudly in Canada’s maple leaf flag. The Indonesian win marked McIntosh’s second trip to the A1GP podium following a third-place effort in Germany while his points-scoring consistency helped steer A1 Team Canada to a 10th place finish in the Nations Standings from a total of 25 countries competing in the inaugural A1GP season.
