July 7th, 2006, Stouffville, ON – While making last minute preparations to leave for the next Snap On Stars of Karting event in Charlotte, 15 year old Mike Vincec received the kind of phone call every driver hopes for. Rob Howden, President, Howden Media Group, the publisher of eKartingNews and Super Kart Illustrated, called to tell Mike and his family that he had been selected to receive one of only two scholarships to attend the Formula BMW USA 2007 Licensing Courses in Valencia, Spain.

"This is just fantastic news!" exclaimed Mike. "It was our hope to be in a position to attend the school at some point over the next couple of seasons. Now, thanks to Rob, the Howden Media Group and their work with the people at Formula BMW USA, we can make it happen immediately."

The course allows graduates eligibility to apply for an international FIA Class C competition license. There is also the chance for an invitation to participate in the 2006 Formula BMW USA Scholarship Shootout. This determines which drivers will be selected to participate in 2007 racing series as part of the Formula BMW USA Junior Team. As a BMW Junior, drivers are offered an Education and Coaching Program that gives them the best possible preparation for their career in motorsports.

"Getting to the Shootout is an ultimate goal for this year," offered Mike, "but for now, I am just looking forward to attending the course in Valencia and getting a taste of what the future holds when it comes to competing in formula cars."

Mike, with a few family members in tow, will be heading to Valencia for the course scheduled July 24-25. He will be busy in the few weeks prior with Snap On Stars of Karting races in Charlotte, NC (July 8-9) then assisting instructors at a new karting school being held at Cameron Motorsports Complex, Hamilton, ON (July 10-13). He returns from Spain just in time for the next round of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship at the Mosport Karting Academy (July 28-30).
