OSCAAR: Set for second stop of '06 to Mosport Speedway

By Don McLeod / OSCAAR

Mosport Speedway is next on the OSCAAR Super Late Model schedule with the 2nd stop at this track coming up on Saturday, July 15. No one has forgotten the big win by Shane Maginnis at the last race on June 24.

The Kerr Cadillac Goodwrench Service has been on a roll lately taking 3rd at Sunset after leading the race for 40 laps. They will be looking forward to another great run at Mosport. The biggest momentum has to be with the JNE Consulting #61 team having already recorded two wins this season.

John Fletcher has those steely blue eyes fixed firmly on the distant prize of championship honours but hasn't lost sight of how fickle each race is and what can still happen. Like a slumbering giant black bear, the JBM Leasing #49 team has been uncharacteristically slow out of the gate by their standards. Everyone is expecting Rob Clarke to once again break through with a dominant run, and the #49 team is hoping that starts at Mosport.

Competition this year is the closest it has been for years in super late model racing. Despite John Fletcher and Rob Clarke being at the top of the standings, no surprise there, they haven't led the most laps. That honour and distinction is currently held by the Shane Maginnis and Glenn Watson, both teams running very strong cars. Watson's Race2Way #22 team could catch a little luck for a change and definitely be at the top toward the end of the race.

Perhaps the greatest competition will come from the very fast car of Pee Wee Evans, who turned heads at Mosport three weeks ago with the some of the fastest lap times. Now throw in a mix of other hungry Outlaws like Phil Bullen, Drew Spicer and Lloyd Ritchie, to name a few, and once again we have the makings of a dynamite race. See you at Mosport!
