JAMES MICHAEL FRIESEN TAKE SYRACUSE 358 MOD QUALIFIER AT HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY
A big night of racing action took place at Humberstone Speedway Sunday night as James Michael Friesen will represent Humberstone Speedway in the Super DIRT Week Race in Syracuse. Friesen won the Young Automotive Professional 358 Modified Syracuse Qualifier in the 5 division program presented by B & C Trucks, Mack Canada, and Boltworks.
The 30 lap Young Automotive Professional 358 Modified event, James Michael Friesen showed the way as he pulled off the caution free victory from his pole position to claim the Syracuse Qualifier over Jeff McGinnis, Fred Carleton, Scott Wood and Mat Williamson.
"The track position was big as the track slicked up," Friesen said. "The bottom was the only way to go."
The 25 lap Cosco Haulage Sportsman feature, Luke Carleton bolted to a huge lead and would pull off a well deserved victory over Adam Leslie, Rob Murray, BJ Willard and Nick Cupolo.
In the 20 lap Brian's Tire Repair Street Stock main, Kevin Aube and Bill Bleich Jr. provided a great battle from the start as they traded the lead several times. Bleich would take the lead and a fine 2nd place run with Aube and Tyler Anderson and Jason Fontaine. Bleich would claim the win by a full straightaway over Fontaine, Lee Winger, Anderson and Kevin Knapp.
The Ron's Automotive Mini Stock 15 lap feature with Kyle Pelrine with constant battles with Evan Curtis and Aaron Wiley and Brandon Iudiciani through the 15 lap main. Pelrine claimed his first win of the season and was followed by Iudiciani, Wiley, Dave Bailey and Curtis to finish in the top 5.
In the 15 lap Niagara Auto Sales Pro 4 race, The Flying Frenchman Andy Imbeault had a great battle with Billy Beales who pressured constantly using the outside line before giving way to Beales on lap 12 with Beales taking the win over Imbeault, Mike Toovey, Rick Book and Kameron Kocarik to round out the top 5.
POST RACE AFTERTHOUGHTS: Failing post race tech tonight were, Mini Stockers Kyle Pelrine, Aaron Wiley and Pro 4 Truck racer Mike Toovey. Street LTD. Carpentry Services sponsored a Sportsman Dash For Cash and the winner was Greg Panunte. Concluding Sunday nights action was Automotive Long jump contest and that was won by Chris Webb in a scarey moment jumping 102 ft but rolled his car end over end and was shook up and sore.
Sunday nights action is the prelude to next weeks Civic Holiday Molson All Canadian Championships presented by Peters Excavating which will be a day long event with gates opening at Noon, which will be followed by 2:00PM time trials for all classes except the Ontario Dirt Late Models. Divisions Will include, Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pro 4 Trucks, Street Stocks and Sportsman as well as the pre-mentioned ODLM. All classes will run heats and extra distance features to make up the huge event that dates back to 1958.
The Speedway will include free camping all weekend with a paid adult admission, the Molson tent, live music Sunday before and after the races and all kinds of fun for the family!!!
