THORNDYKE PLEASED WITH EFFORT IN TORONTO

July 17, 2010. David Thorndyke and the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com team were excited to participate in the first ever NASCAR Canadian Tire series event to take place as part of the Toronto Indy weekend. They were especially happy after enjoying a successful outing in the race.

The #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com team approached the first practice cautiously after making extensive repairs to the car after the Mosport outing. All went smoothly mechanically with the car. “That was a big weight off our shoulders” said Thorndyke.

The hiccup came during qualifying. Due to a radio issue Thorndyke would run an extra lap following the end of the session. The penalty was having the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com Chevrolet being dropped to the rear of the field to start the race. “It wasn’t a huge penalty for us, but we talked with the NASCAR officials, and they knew it wasn’t intentional” said the driver.

As the green flag dropped on the 100km event, Thorndyke looked to begin moving forward. “The #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com car was really good today” smiled the driver. “As a racer you always want to go faster, but the motor worked well and we were able to gain some positions” said the driver.

For the most part it was a smooth race although Thorndyke did have one noteworthy moment. “I touched the wall lightly just once” said the driver. “But it wasn’t my fault, I got forced into it by another car” he quickly added.

Thorndyke was extremely pleased with the teams finishing result. “We finished twenty third, gained a bunch of spots, I’m happy” said the driver. “This was a really good day for the entire #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com team who worked very hard” he added.

David Thorndyke and the EVT/iRacing.com Chevrolet team are next scheduled to race August 15th at Trois Rivieres. All races in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series are broadcast on TSN.
