Excel Tower Service Team on the Road This Weekend with ODLM Series

With just one race scheduled this past weekend for Greg Belyea, Jeff Mutton and the Excel Tower Service team, a little co-operation from Mother Nature would have been nice. Unfortunately, thunderstorms ripped through the Brighton Speedway area, forcing the track officials to cancel the night’s racing program.

Even with a rainout, the Excel Tower Service team still kept busy, as the prepared both cars for the upcoming weekend, as they follow the Ontario/Quebec swing of the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series, consisting of three events beginning Friday night at Autodrome Edelweiss, then moving over to the Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday night. From Brockville, the team will travel up the 401 to the Cornwall Motor Speedway to conclude the weekend trip.

On Friday night at Edelweiss, a special guest driver will be behind the wheel of the second Excel Tower Service entry, normally driven by Jeff Mutton. Lee Gill, of Lafargeville, New York will pilot the car. Gill is the current points leader at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park in the Late Model division, and Gill will get his first taste of the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series.

“We are very excited to have Lee Gill driving for us Friday night at Edelweiss,” says Belyea, who also races against Gill weekly at Can Am. “He is a great driver and a class act, and it will be fun to see how he does in the ODLM Series”.

Belyea currently sits fifth place in track points at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park despite missing one event. Mutton has only made two starts at Can Am, and two starts at Brighton Speedway, and even with the handling issues that the team has been working to overcome, Mutton is yet to finish outside of the top ten.

“We are really looking forward to running with the Ontario Dirt Late Model Series this weekend. We have had this marked on our calendar for a while now,” adds Belyea.
