Meyer Racing Raises Hundreds for Breast Cancer and Finished Seventh at Sunset Speedway

(Tillsonburg, ON) - Jason Meyer and the crew of his Total Lubricants / Tirecraft / M&J Tire / McClay's Transportation Chevy had a busy weekend July 17-18, as they participated in a charity go-kart event at GP Kartways and raced against the other stars of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup at the newly refurbished Sunset Speedway, just south of Barrie ON.

Throughout the season, Meyer and his crew and fans have been raising money for the Breast Cancer Foundation through T-Shirt sales at the Sportsman Series event and during Meyer's daughters racing at Tillsonburg Indoor Speedway.

On Saturday night, July 17th, one of the fellow drivers in the series, Al Lebert, with the help of GP Kartways - his sponsor staged a charity event at the go-kart facility. The winners of the 50/50 draw were also given the chance to race against Meyer and Lebert.

The following afternoon the setting shifted from Toronto to Barrie, as the Meyer Racing Team were at the beautifully renovated Sunset Speedway for the GP Kartways 100. The silver and red Chevy was quick during the practice session, but lost a little bit of speed in qualifying, turning
a fast lap of 13.39 seconds, and putting him 10th on the grid for the 100 lap feature. Meyer hadn't competed on track in years, nor had he battled on the new configuration, but he took to it immediately, climbing to seventh during the first 15 lap run of the feature until a yellow flag flew as Jay Doerr went around in turn two. The skies opened up under the yellow flag, and would lead to an hour rain delay before the program was restarted on lap 20.

Meyer continued to race his way forward, moving to fifth for a lap 37 restart following the only other caution of the day. He would lose spots to Dan Prudhomme, and Doerr, but continued to race with those drivers through the second half of the event to bring his car home with
a solid seventh-place result. "We were pretty good all day, and I had a great seat to watch the 16 [Kelly Balson] and the 96 [Prudhomme] race each other."

With the finish, Meyer moved to seventh in the championship point standings following two of the seven events, and sits just four points out of the top-five in just his second season on the tour.

"It's been a good season for us so far, and our fund raising for the Breast Cancer Foundation has received so much positive feedback and results."
