Toronto, ON- Anthony Simone driver of the No. 95 Simone Autosport/RX 100/Graphix Factory Monte Carlo started the weekend strong with fifth in practice and a fifth in qualifying.
During the Friday practice secession the No. 95 RX 100 Monte Carlo was fast and maintained a top five spot for the duration of the practice secession. Qualifying was much of the same for the No.95 team as Simone has a solid run and nabbed a fifth place starting position with a time of 1:17. 502 and an average speed of 79.94 around the 1.765-mile temporary course at Toronto’s Exhibition Place.
Simone was excited after qualifying “we have a great car” Simone said and “I hope we can get it to the front, there is a lot of competition out there this weekend, but were going to do everything we can to make it happen,” Simone added.
The team was confident that they had a car to contend with during the inaugural race at the Honda Indy Toronto. Early in the race was running in the top five and on lap four had made the pass for third when he was again faced with mechanical problems as something in the rear end broke and cased the brakes to lock. The No.95 car hit the wall hard and the team was hoping they could fix the car and get it back out on the streets of Toronto but the damage was too significant.
Simone and the No. 95 Simone Autosport/Graphix Factory Monte Carlo were scored in 30th place when all was said and done on Saturday.
The Canadian Tire Jumpstart 100 was telecast live on TSN.
Anthony Simone dropped 4 positions in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Points standings and is currently in 16th.
The next event for the No.95 Graphix Factory Castrol Chevrolet will be Edmonton City Centre Airport on July 25th where Simone finished 10th in 2009 and is hoping to top that performance next week.
