Cantley, QC - The spectacular Ontario DIRT Late Model Series will stop to Edelweiss Speedway this July 23 part of a three-race week-end haul in Eastern Ontario with visits at Brockville on Saturday and Cornwall on Sunday. These cars will offer a great show to the speedway fans. The Semi-Pro, Mini-Stock and Mod-Lite categories will also be in action. McMalette Électrique and Pavage Cavalier will be the main sponsors of these great evening of racing.
Race fans will have a great field of cars this Friday with 32 cars confirmed to compete for the first event of the weekend. Peter Mantha, from Gatineau will lead the way will a World Of Outlaws Late Model car from the Chub Frank Racing Team.
Mantha had some success during the recent Great Northern Tour with a 12th place finish at Can-Am in June. Greg Oakes from Franklinville, New York, winner last year at Edelweiss and current champion of the ODLM Series for the last two years will be there to defend his title. Eleven of the top 12 in the 2009 series points will be in action with John Lobb, Adam West and Jeff Dayman that finished in the top five last year.
Regular drivers from Brighton Speedway with four of the five top drivers from that new Late Models Series in 2010 making the haul, point’s leader Charlie Sandercock, Phil Potts, Caley Weese and Jason McCrory will be in the pits. Other drivers that will compete for the win are 2009 Stateline Speedway Champ, Chad Valone from Warren, Pennsylvania and veteran Modified driver and current point’s leader in the Pro Late Model class in Can-Am Speedway, Lee Gill will also be here. Other American drivers like David Scott from Garland, Pennsylvania and Dave Hartman from Howard City, Michigan will have the long drive to race during the weekend.
More than $13,500 in purse will be given out during the 30-lap feature race with the winner getting $2,000 for the win. Each car that will take part in the A-Main will at least leave the speedway with $400 in their pockets. Expect to see some two and three-wide racing around the track all feature long.
The Semi-Pro, Mod-Lite and Mini-Stock will also see some action with a regular show and important points to collect toward the championship title.
General Admission cost will be $20 for adults, $16 for Students and seniors, kids 12 years old and under will be admitted for free. Pit admission will be $30 for adults and will cost $5 for kids that are 12 years old and less. Come and see the spectacular Late Model as they will make their lone visit to Edelweiss Speedway!
