Andrew Reaume and Chad Valone were on the top row of a field of 25 cars in the 35-lap Ontario DIRT Late Model Feature race. Valone took the lead over Reaume and Greg Oakes when Jason McCrory brought the first caution on lap 2. Valone got a good jump over Reaume as a multi-car tangle involving 14 cars took place in the front stretch on lap 3 and yellow was brought. Several cars were able to join the field again.
When the race resumed, Valone stayed in first with Reaume and David Scott now in third. Peter Mantha was challenging Greg Oakes for fourth place as Reaume went to high and Scott got second. Reaume lost a few positions and was now in fifth as the leaders were now in heavy traffic with 15 laps in the books. Jeff Mutton slowed the field down by stopping in turn 2 with 19 laps to go. Teammate Valone and Scott were now on the top row as Valone retained the lead with Oakes in third.
The ODLM champ ran the bottom lane and got closer to Scott with 20 laps in, the 2 cars swapped the second spot as Oakes finally got second and was now challenging the leader, Valone got too high in turn 4 and lost control giving the lead to Oakes as the yellow came out for this incident on lap 23. On the restart, a good battle for the lead between Oakes and Scott while Mantha was sitting in third.
The leaders got into traffic and they swapped the lead while Mantha took second and took the lead while slower cars played against Oakes and Scott. Mantha led the final laps to win his first career feature in the Ontario DIRT Late Feature in front of Oakes and David Scott completed the podium.
In the 30-lap Modified feature, a field of 22 cars took the green flag with Luke Whitteker the early leader as Tammy Jalbert rolled over in turn 2 and the red flag was out with 1 lap completed. Jalbert was ok after her accident. Whitteker got another good jump and Dan Jalbert stopped in turn 2 and the yellow flag came out with 2 laps to go.
Whitteker still the leader with Kyle Dingwall and Laurent Ladouceur behind the young gun. Tim O'Brien took third by passing him on the inside lane on lap 5 while his older brother Danny cracked the top 5 on the following lap. Whitteker built himself a huge lead as he got closer to traffic with a dozen laps in.
Carey Terrance was strong on the high lane and took third on that same lap. Terrance took second over Dingwall on lap 16. With 10 laps to go, Whitteker was in heavy traffic and Terrance closed the gap on the leader. Jalbert brought a second caution by going out the speedway in turn 4 with 8 laps to go. Another solid start for Whitteker on Terrance and was able to step away from the rest of the field. Whitteker led the final laps to win his first feature at Cornwall over Terrance, Tim O'Brien, Kyle Dingwall and Ladouceur completed the top 5.
The 20-lap Pro-Stock feature race saw Dion Oakes take the lead over Ricky Thompson, as the top 6 cars were running closer. Joey Ladouceur got second over Ryan Stabler with 6 laps done. Ladouceur got closer to Oakes and took the lead in front of the flag stand on lap 8 while Louie Jackson was strong now running second at the halfway point.
The red flag came out on lap 12 for Marc Lalonde and Steve Johnston on his roof. Both drivers were good. Ladouceur got a good start over Jackson and Corey Wheeler now in third as Dave Bissonnette and Oakes spun out in front of the grandstand and caution came out with 6 laps to go. Ladouceur in the lead with 3 other cars following closely, Jackson and Wheeler were able to pass Ladouceur as caution came out with 17 laps done.
Jackson in front but Wheeler was running side by side with him. Jackson was able to resist during the last 2 laps and won the feature over Wheeler and Ladouceur completed the podium.
A strong field of 20 Semi-Pro cars took the initial green in the 15-lap feature race with Mike Stacey the early leader; Hugh Chandler brought the caution on lap 3. Kevin McCrae took the lead when the caution came back out on the following lap. McCrae had company in front with Kevin Fetterly as they ran side by side as caution came out with 6 laps to go.
Fetterly was the new leader. Fetterly the leader followed by McCrae as Nico Leblanc took third spot over Gaetan Amesse with 2 laps to go when the yellow was out. Fetterly led the final laps as Nico Leblanc made a final move to take second on the front stretch with Gaetan Amesse completing the top 3.
The Mini-Stock Feature was the first feature of the event with a 12-lap event; Andrew Giroux was the early leader with Martin Bernard making his way through the field and passed Giroux for the lead on lap 2. Chris James brought the first caution on lap 4 with a tire going off his car. Ben Nurse got a good start over Bernard and took the lead as Ronnie Tyo was now in fourth spot behind Marc Usereau at the halfway point.
Bernard was racing closely to Nurse while Tyo took third over Usereau with 4 laps to go. Nurse had a front flat tire and Bernard regained the lead with Tyo in second. Bernard led the final laps to win the feature over Tyo and Usereau completed the podium.
One of the biggest night of season at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the Canadian National 125 Series Finale, a 125-lap event in the 358-modified series paying $5,000 to the winner. A fine field of 34 cars had made the haul in May, we can expect more for this unique event at the Speedway. The Sportsman, Pro-Stock and Mini-Stock will also be on the racing schedule on Pennzoil & Jiffy Auto Service Night.
